Spoke alongside Dato Hamidah Naziadin (Group Chief People Office, CIMB) and Mahuran Sariki (Head of Research, CEO’s office, TalentCorp) about the Future of Work in Malaysia.
Debate on the Public vs Private Sector in growing economy (moderated by BBC World News)
Invited by PATA to speak about Brain Drain in Asia, and also represented the private sector in debating about the role of businesses and governments when growing the economy.
Was interviewed on BFM to speak about WOBB.CO and also my views on what culture is about.
Spoke to a group of CEOs about the importance of company culture, and how to implement to attract young talent.
MaGIC (Malaysian Global Innovation Centre)
Spoke on the subject on “What’s it like to work in a startup”, with the focus on work culture with young jobseekers, and moderated a panel of the leaders of some of Asia’s hottest startups – myTeksi, Televate.io, Between and VLT Labs.
The Youth Leadership Academy (organised by McKinsey & Company)
Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) is a 12-week project-based, leadership development program designed for local university students. I played the role of mentor to help these graduates bring their social entrepreneurship ideas to life.
Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA)
Spoke on the subject of “Careers for Accounting Graduates”, and gave ideas on how educators can inspire their graduates to want to have a career in Accounting. Moderated the discussion for a senior panel of speakers – Mark Billington (ICAEW), Nora Manaf (Maybank), Wan A Ikram Wan A Lotfi (PIDM) and Wong Chin Aik (CPA).
Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers
Spoke to the banking HR community in Malaysia on how to attract star talent in a competitive market. The event was co-facilitated by Jamal Bakri of RHB Bank.
Lim Kok Wing University
Helped graduates with some idea on how to choose the right career for themselves, writing a good CV and developing proper interview technique.
Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC)
Spoke on the subject of careers in Shared Services, the event was open to the public, and worked with MDeC to help curious job seekers understand their options in Malaysia’s new shared services market. Shared the floor to speak about the subject with Jason Crimson, Director of Asia Pac Shared Services of Kimberly-Clark.
Teach for Malaysia
Conducted a workshop for the fellows of TFM on interview technique and preparing for the corporate environment. I am a strong supporter of TFM’s efforts and actively participate and attend their events when possible.
